The Assistant · EP 02 · BRIEF
The morning brief: one page with your whole day
EP 02: every morning at 7:30 my assistant reads my calendar, inbox and to-do list and texts me one page.
What goes on the page
- Today: calendar events as a timeline, flagging conflicts and back-to-back meetings.
- Inbox: up to 5 unread emails from the last day that look like they need me. No newsletters or promos.
- To-do: what’s due today and what’s overdue.
- One line on top: the single most important thing today.
How it runs
- A scheduled job fires at 7:30 every morning on the always-on Mac.
- It runs Claude Code headless with read-only connectors for Google Calendar, Gmail and Todoist, and a written brief of what the page must contain.
- The page is saved as a small HTML file. A three-line text with the link goes to my phone.
Real numbers
It ran 14 of the last 15 mornings, each at 7:30 (Oct 20 – Nov 3, 2026).
The rule that matters
It’s read-only. It never replies, files, deletes or moves anything. Reading is safe to automate; acting on my behalf waits for me.
